We recently caught up with Timbers Kiawah Owners Andy and Millany Wood. Read on to learn about their experiences as Timbers Kiawah Owners.

Tell us about your family and where you are from.

We are from Danbury, Connecticut. Millany and I are originally from England and our children are Maya (almost 15) and Joshua a.k.a. “J.J.” (13).

What first drew you to Kiawah?

We were looking at locations where we wanted to spend more quality time as a family, and eventually for retirement.

What do you think makes it so special?

Its beauty! The beach is stunning, as so are the marshes and wildlife. And if you like golf, it does not get much better!

How did you first hear about Timbers Kiawah?

During our first family trip to Kiawah, we went to see several houses but could not find anything which ticked the boxes, the main one being the beach and a vacation feel. Sitting outside Vincent’s (located in Freshfields Village) enjoying our milkshakes we noticed the posters for Timbers in the Timbers office, so we inquired within to find out about the plans that were under construction. We made an appointment to visit the site, looked out at the beach from the model in Building 3 and realized that this was the best option for us.

What are your kids’ favorite things to do on Kiawah?

For Maya, it is making new friends at the pool, and now seeing them again on subsequent trips. For Joshua it’s the “beach life”, which described by him is “everything, it’s the pool, the milkshakes, the other kids, the weather”.

What’s your favorite thing to order at the Beach Club restaurant?

For myself, it has to be Duck Gumbo. For Millany, it’s Pimento cheese (see recipe here) and Prosecco. For Maya, it’s the signature pizzas and Joshua really loves Chef Teddy’s milkshakes.

Anything else you’d like to add about your experience with Timbers Kiawah?

We love our Timbers Kiawah home. It gets harder to leave every time we are here and a lot of kudos goes to the staff, all of them. The location of Timbers Kiawah is perfect, the design and quality of the homes are excellent, but the staff make it Home. Thank you for that.
